HUMANE EDUCATION: The Lifebridge Humane Education Program is a values based program that focuses on pillars of character such as kindness, respect,responsibility, fairness and compassion toward animals, the environment and each other, as well as the basic principles of right and wrong.

FORMAT: Not only is humane education taught incorporating important character traits, each lesson is presented in a format that addresses necessary academic standards such as language arts, science and math.

Preface from a lesson on Integrity...

Integrity is the foundation for all other character traits.  If a person lacks integrity, they will likewise lack the other pillars of character necessary to function as an upstanding member of a community.  In order to be a person of integrity, one must have respect for the lives of other human beings as well as the lives of animals; both domestic animals as well as wild animals.  Learning to be a responsible pet owner is vital to the development of integrity in children.  Children must learn what it takes to be responsible pet owners, and then act on that knowledge, doing everything that being a good pet owner entails.

Definition of the word integrity...

Integrity means doing the right thing for the right reason.  It is doing the right thing even when no one is watching and even when it is hard to do. 

Curriculum Addressed:
Primary Arts/Humanities AH-P-IAA-U-3

This lesson addressed integrity in its various forms through curriculum-based activities.  Students expanded their concepts of integrity through artistic expression.  Students understand that the arts provide forms of non-verbal communication that can strengthen the presentation of ideas and emotions.  In the lesson on integrity, students used art to tell a story about someone who is a hero to them.  That hero is someone that shows integrity as a pet owner.
